Sleepless in Seattle

Wednesday

After a long flight I arrived in Chicago O'Hare. Connected to another flight, and arrived in Seattle about 6 pm. I was picked up by Laura and Randy, a guy from Pedregon Racing. We went straight up to Marks place up in North Bend, having barbecue and a dip in his hot tub. Perfect after being up and running almost 26 hours. Beautilful surroundings around here!

Thursday

Up early and took off for the track. Great looking racetrack. Met some old friends and a lot of new ones, damn it's good to be back! Sunny and really hot day. Started to make all kinds of different preparations, cleaning stuff, mounted a lot of tires for the track prep machines and so on. Back to the hotel in the afternoon for a quick shower, then off to Mark again for another very enjoyable evening with good food and more hot tub.

We not only do race tracks, we do parking lots too..

Friday

Opening day. I'm signed up to be on truck 2 today with Cindi, Cody, Jonathan, Russell and truck captain Tim. Packed all our stuff and took our position right by the score boards. Not much to do, just a few oil downs and some smaller fires. Great but hot weather at this beautiful race track.

Took off from the track about 7.30 with Rick for some food at Taco bell. Tired from the heat and because I'm short of sleep.

Well, I'm directing an oil down here. Or I fell off.. :-p

Saturday

Took off about 6.30 from the hotel with Rick. Same truck and crew today. The day went by pretty much like yesterday. Done around 5, so Rick and a few other guys went to Red Robin for food. Good food and some really good stories from back in time.

Quick shower and off to another Red Robin for some beers, this time with Laura, Mark, Marcia, Jonathan and Brian. What a great bunch of people this is! So much laughter :-)

 Sunday

Final race day. Easy start, got here about 8 and loaded up all our stuff. Breakfast nr.2 (thanks DSR) a quick trip to Nitro Mall and rolled to position at 11. Some great racing hee this very hot day. Everything went on just fine until suddenly everthing went just wild. An alcohol dragster went sideways, corrected, but lost it and crashed big time just right in front of us. It was so close he went over the wall but finally got hanging just of it, right at our gate. Driver was fine but the car totaly wrecked. Well, all cleaned up and we're into fuel funnys. Now Beckman grenades it and shoot his body off while going through the lights. He was out of the car before we got to him and a okay. The rest of the day was easier.

Last final at 5 o'clock and we're done. Now we start to pack everything up for Brainerd. 7.30 we are done and rolling back to the hotel, this time with my new company for the next 5-6 days, Cowboy. I think this next trip is going to be awesome! Quick shower and leave for food at The Rock.

These last five days have been amazing. Met some many great people, old and new, experienced good racing in a very beautilful part of this country, I can't ask for more. I'm having a blast! 

It's midnight now and I'm signing off, tomorrow we will be on the road. Good night.
